Independence Day Blondies – the perfect dessert for your 4th of July cookout

Crunchy on the top, gooey in the center, red, white, and blue sprinkles and M&Ms in every bite, easy to transport-these Independence Day Funfetti Blondies are the perfect dessert for your Fourth of July cookout. These blondies are so simple to make and you can add any type of sprinkles or candies. I added red, white and blue sprinkles and red and blue M&Ms from the grocery store. You can whip these holiday bars up in no time. They only take about 20 minutes to bake in the oven making them the perfect, stress-free Fourth of July dessert.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper. Melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature.
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
In a mixing bowl with a paddle attachment, combine the melted butter, brown sugar and sugar.
Next, add the eggs and vanilla. Gently fold in the flour mixture.
Once everything is combined, fold in the sprinkles and the M&Ms. Save a few M&M's and sprinkles to put on top once the batter is spread into the pan.
Spread the batter evenly into the lined baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining M&M's and sprinkles on top and pop it into the oven.
Bake for 20-25 minutes. They will continue to cook after you take them out of the oven. Be careful not over-bake these blondies or they will be dry. No one likes a dry blondie so I suggest taking them out of the oven when they are a little gooey in the center. Mine took about 20 minutes.
Allow the blondies to cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve with your favorite vanilla ice-cream. Yields 12-15 blondie bars.
